My desire to gain more skills in my field got the best of me, and I decided to continue on and get my Bachelor’s degree at Illinois Institute of Technology. I’m currently a third year undergraduate student in the College of Applied Technology with a major in Information Technology and Management. This year I’m learning a new programming language called Java, which is rather interesting and has some similarities to other coding programs that I have learned as well. I look forward to putting this skill to good use in the future.
Feedback on designing…
Current animation I’m working on
Always learning
No matter how much I know, there is always something new to learn about. My favorite thing to do when I’m either stuck, don’t know something, need just a little help, or maybe just need ideas; I like to do some research. I’ll either look at images or tutorials. I’ve watched quite a few tutorials on how to do something, and majority of the times it helps me out a lot. For example, I’m currently working on a new frame by frame animation project. So the first thing I did was research. I looked at animation videos on you tube for ideas and movement, so I can get an idea on what I want my finished product to be like. Here’s an example of a flash animation.
Artistic Challenges
This semester is about challenges, but good challenges. It will test my abilities, strengthen them, and broaden my skills. My biggest challenge is flash animation. While I am familiar with flash, I will admit that I’m still learning but that’s a good thing. Being able to still learn about technology and designing helps. It’s an ever changing aspect in our society. This year I hope to get better at flash, so that I can add more to my growing portfolio. I have gotten even better at illustrator, which is a plus because flash and illustrator are both vector based. Hopefully I can accomplish this in flash as well. My style has become a bit more prominent in illustrator as being very simple and almost cartoon like. It’s the best way I can describe it. These challenges will prove to be worthwhile.
What inspires me…
The majority of my inspiration for my work comes from experience. I like to be able to relate to my designs, and it helps me to put my ideas to life. As a kid, I grew up doing crafts to keep me busy and out of trouble. I still make a few things here and there to this day, which helps me to continue to build my creativity. I believe it lit a spark in me and lead the way to me becoming a designer. Another inspiration for me is my growing imagination and creativity, because with these two things the possibilities are endless.
